Is Boudoir Photography Worth It?
The easiest way to answer whether a boudoir session is worth it is to think back to the moments that changed your life. So often, the big ones started as something small. A yes you almost didn't say. A door you almost didn't walk through. And the things that felt scary, or expensive, at the time? Looking back, they turned out to be small compared to what they gave you.
Boudoir is a very fascinating field of portraiture. On the surface, it looks like it's about making sexy pictures. On the surface, it looks superficial, just photos to look pretty in. On the surface, it can even seem like vanity.
And yet, all those things are actually not true.
All the women who stepped into my studio and had a boudoir session are everyday women with children, families, careers, ups and downs and simply needed to reaffirm themselves, to discover that they matter, they are attractive, they can go through the next chapters in life with their head held high.

For sure, boudoir is self expression. You might be curious about how it feels to play a certain part, to express a part of you that has not been visible. Maybe you always wanted to try a type of lingerie, but never had the chance. This is the chance. Maybe, you wanted to have your own "fairy tale" moment. Maybe, you feel like a femme fatale, but never had the chance to do it. Maybe you just want to have a moment and feel what it's like to be all that and more, without having the fear to be judged.
In fact, not only the studio is a wonderful playground for all those ideas, but I can help you make them realities.
When clients talk to me during the styling consultation, they often start timidly hinting at some outfit that they thought they wanted to try. I can help make that happen exactly because I have helped so many women before. It's wonderful fun.
The result
In our lives we might books some interesting activities that leave us with almost nothing. If we go to a concert, we experience two hours of great music, but then it's gone forever.
People easily spend thousands of dollars to go to sports events, but once the game is over, well, game over.
Boudoir is special because it's not about a team or a music group. It's about you. The event is about celebrating you. You at 40, you at 50, you at 60 and more. Yes, women over 60 are amazing and worth celebrating. I have made several portraits of them.
And when the event is over, you have works of art that feature you. Not just photos. Real artistic expressions of you. It's my art and your personality fused together in timeless and unforgettable portraits.
But is it worth the cost?
I'll be honest, because I think it's the real question hiding inside the first one. When a woman asks me if boudoir is worth it, very often what she is might be asking is whether it's worth the money.
That's fair. It is an investment, and you should think about it like one.
So think about what you already spend on. The concert tickets. The weekend trips. The dinners out that are wonderful and then, by Monday, just a nice memory. You don't regret those. The experience was worth it while it lasted.
Boudoir is the rare thing that gives you the experience and lets you keep it. The day itself is a lot of fun, I promise you that. But when it's over you don't walk away empty-handed. You walk away with portraits you will still have in twenty years. On a wall. In an album. Reminding you of how you felt in that moment.
When, in 10 or 20 years, you will experience again that excitement that you have experienced when you were totally free to be yourself and look amazing. How precious will that be?
Is it worth it? Absolutely!
