This portrait of Mayor Johnh Tecklenburg was made right in the historic city council building in downtown Charleston, in 2021. That was right after the terrible time that was the Covid lockdowns, which wrcked the economy of so many countries and isolated people for what seemed like an endless time.

All people in office had a terrible time managing an unprecedented situation and so I asked Mr.Tecklenburg to think about the toughest moment during that time and then to think at the moment when he first saw that there was a glimmer of hope. That’s when I took the photo.

Barry is a fantastic “ghost writer” in Charleston and actively involved with charities that fight against cancer. While Barry is a very funny man, I wanted to show his more serious side in a portrait that I believe is quite striking. His gave is absolutely piercing.
