What to Expect at Your Boudoir Session in Charleston, SC
If you have never done a boudoir session before, you are probably feeling two things at once.
Excited. And a little nervous.
That is completely normal. It might be the most normal thing in the world, and nearly every woman who has walked into my studio felt exactly the same way before her first boudoir shoot. So let me walk you through what actually happens, from the first conversation to the moment you see your portraits, so there are no surprises and nothing left to worry about.
Because the fear of the unknown is almost always bigger than the thing itself.
Preparation is the key to success, and relaxation
Your session does not begin on the day of the shoot. It begins with us meeting and talking about what makes sense for you.
A week or two beforehand, we sit down together for a styling and design consultation. This is where we plan everything, so that by the time you arrive, you already know what to expect. We talk about the mood you want, the feeling you are after, and what to wear for your boudoir session. If you are not sure, that is exactly what I am here for. I have helped many women figure this out, and we will figure yours out together.
You will leave that consultation with a plan. Not a vague idea, a real plan. That alone takes away most of the nerves, because the biggest fear is usually walking in blind. That will not be the case.
I want you also to know that there isn't a single way of doing this. The styling consultation is done exactly to tailor the session for you. That means that what you will be wearing is personalized. If you don't feel like wearing lingerie, there's no problem. There are so many options to chose from. I want to be comfortable in every aspect, including what you will wear.
The day of your session
Here is the part most women worry about, so let me be very clear about it.
My studio is private. It is comfortable. There is no crowd, no rush, and absolutely no judgement. Many women, quite understandably, wonder what it will feel like to do a private session with a photographer. I take that seriously, and I go out of my way to make the studio a place where you feel safe and respected from the moment you arrive.
We do not start with the boldest pose. We ease in.
I begin every session with a few simple, relaxed poses to break the ice and let you settle. And you are never left guessing what to do. For every client I prepare a set of pose ideas in advance, based on what we planned in your consultation, and I walk you through each one. I show you the idea, then I guide you into it, step by step. You do not need to know how to pose. That is my job, not yours.
Every so often I will turn the camera around and show you the back of it.
That moment matters more than almost anything else in the day. Because the second you see yourself in that beautiful light, something changes. The nervousness gives way to excitement, and most women go from "I hope this works" to "I can't wait to see the next one." That shift is my favorite part of this whole job.
Seeing your portraits
After the session, I prepare your images with care, and then you come back for the part everyone remembers.
It is a private, in-person presentation. Cinematic, the way these portraits deserve to be shown, not a link emailed to your phone. You see your finished images for the first time, presented beautifully, and you get to take in what we created together.
There is no pressure in that room. You look, you feel, you enjoy it. This is the moment the whole experience has been building toward, and it should feel like a celebration, because it is one.

The only hard part
I will let you in on something I have learned after all these sessions.
For almost every woman, the hardest part is not the posing. It is not the lingerie. It is not being photographed.
The hardest part is simply deciding to do it.
Once you are here, the rest takes care of itself. I promise you that. The nerves fade faster than you would believe, and what is left is a woman having more fun than she expected, being reminded of how beautiful she already is.
That could be you. Whenever you are ready.
