Over 40? You Are in the best part of your life

If you've been searching for boudoir photography for women over 40, you've probably noticed most of what's out there feels aimed at someone half your age. This is for you.

There's a silent, heartbreaking moment many women experience as they turn 40: they feel less attention, fewer compliments — almost as if they've faded into the background. I've heard that story from so many women, and it breaks my heart every time, because it is completely unfair.

I have photographed women well into their 40s, 50s, and even 60s, and they are amazing. Today's 50s is not what it was even 30 years ago — not just because we are healthier and take better care of ourselves, but because there is, rightfully, a completely different attitude about age.

Decades ago, people didn't even speak about sexuality after 40. Today it's normal. People in their 50s and 60s have sex. Let's just say it, for crying out loud :). And if anybody has a problem with that, I'm sorry, but that is their own issue to work through.

So if you feel sexually alive in the second half of your life, it is entirely natural to want to feel good about the way you look. You want to feel desirable, powerful, sexy. Oh my God! We did it, we said the "s" word. 😉

Reconquering How You Fell About Yourself

A boudoir session doesn't have to be overtly sexual. It can be as subtle or as bold as you want it to be. But it can be enticing, playful, and deeply sensual in an understated way that actually appeals more to a mature sensibility than to a 20-something who may want something more obvious.

What's important to keep in mind is that this is not a competition. It's not a race to see who can be the most daring. This is completely about you. Think of it as the photographic equivalent of a day at the spa — a gift you give yourself.

And I can tell you one thing: your friends will admire you for having done it. Not just for how you look, not just for how beautiful the portraits will be — but simply because you did it. So many women deny themselves the simple spices of life. When you show that you took control of that narrative, that you stepped up and said this is who I am, right now, today, people will admire that courage more than you know.

What To Expect In A Boudoir Photo Shoot

Fun — most of all, it is about having fun. This is a time to be yourself in a completely safe and private environment. Nobody has to know. This is your little secret.

So, first of all: fun and complete confidentiality. Your portraits, your photos are yours. I never share anything unless you give me explicit permission — and even then, only what you allow.

Everybody is different, and this is a personalized service. We start by meeting well before the session, either in person — you are most welcome to visit the studio — or via Zoom. Mostly, we just talk. Your reason for doing this may be completely different from anyone else's, and I never make assumptions. I'm here to listen and help.

We'll talk about all kinds of fun things: what you want to wear, the style of portraits you're drawn to, and how you'd like to have them. For example, most clients order albums. An album is a perfect way to enjoy your portraits — it's beautifully made, has vibrant colors, showcases a large number of images, and can be kept completely private.

If you want to get some ideas on what to wear, please take a look at this article for suggestion on what to wear for alluring boudoir photos. We also have some great suggestions for plus size boudoir portraits.

Some clients also choose to display a few selected portraits proudly on their walls as framed prints. During your shoot we can explore all kinds of directions — from elegant portraits in a beautiful dress, to lingerie, and everything in between.

The important thing to remember is that you decide how subtle or bold you want to be.

On The Day Of The Shoot

The session lasts about two hours, giving you time to change into multiple looks and really settle into each one. I want you to have the space to get in the mood and enjoy the atmosphere — not feel rushed.

I will guide you through every step, so you don't need to know anything about posing or how to hold yourself. I will demonstrate every idea myself. Honestly, I don't care how ridiculous I look doing it — you'll see it first and decide whether you want to try it. No surprises, ever.

What's Next?

About a week after the session, we'll get together again. I'll show you your beautiful portraits and you'll choose your favorites. I'll be right there to help — to answer any questions and offer suggestions, if you'd like them.

I'll show you mockups of your album and wall art so you can actually see what the final result will look like in your hands or in your home. All the guesswork is removed, and what's left is the pure enjoyment of the experience.

If any of this resonates, I'd love to talk. Contact me with the link below and let's have a conversation — no pressure, no commitment.
