Christine Marley
Brewing Success: A Journey from Club Management to Community Catalyst in Charleston
I have met Christine years ago and had the pleasure to see her in action at several events. Her effervescent personality, her passion and dedication to help people is palpable. Christine is one of those rare people who is connected at all levels, who has been involved in several important projects, and who keeps herself humble and approachable.
Christine is a renowned figure in the Charleston community, both as a brand relations specialist and as the spirited co-proprietor of our greater Charleston BIGGBY Coffees. With a rich professional history that spans more than two decades, Christine is notable for her exceptional ability to foster partnerships, cultivate enriching cultures, and initiate compelling lifestyle initiatives.
Christine’s career began in the management of country clubs across North and South Carolina, where she held a variety of pivotal roles ranging from Catering and Membership Director to Clubhouse Manager and Assistant General Manager, culminating in over 15 years as the Club Programs and Events Director at the Kiawah Island Club. This extensive background paved the way for her current role as a high-touch consultant, where she is affectionately known as the person who keeps the Charleston community well-caffeinated with BIGGBY Coffee. Coupled with her leadership community relations and events, her family not only runs multiple BIGGBY locations but also manages the brand’s Area Representative role in South Carolina.
Her transition from club management to coffee shop co-proprietor and community influencer was catalyzed by an unexpected job loss due to restructure. This challenge turned into an opportunity as Christine leveraged her vast experience and community connections to launch her freelance brand consulting. Her work now spans various sectors, including high-end fitness and wellness, corporate VIP hosting, and real estate, showcasing her passion for enhancing brand value and fostering community engagement.
Christine is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Her efforts include supporting local schools, emergency workers, veterans, and future leaders through partnerships with organizations like First Tee, Lowcountry Food Bank, NAMI, Dorchester Paws, Habitat for Humanity, and LOWvelo at the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. For over 5 years, her dedication to the community has been demonstrated by her presence and in sponsoring a myriad of guest speakers for the weekly 1 Million Cups meetings, a community dedicated to helping entrepreneurs make meaningful connections.
Aside from her professional endeavors, Christine has orchestrated numerous memorable events such as private concerts with Darius Rucker, a series of Micheal Jordan Celebrity Golf Classics, and a Top Chef episode in Charleston. She is also an enthusiastic traveler, having journeyed as far as Fiji to complete her scuba certification. At home, Christine cherishes time with her family, often found cheering on her son at various sports events or enjoying the beach with their yellow Labrador retriever. A Chicago native who has wholeheartedly embraced life in the South, Christine loves everything creative, from lifestyle photography to live music, and, of course, coffee.
Christine proudly emphasizes that while BIGGBY Coffee operates as a franchise, each of her stores is completely independent, reflecting her commitment to both local entrepreneurship and community welfare. When you support Christine’s BIGGBY Coffee, you are supporting a true family-operated local business that passionately gives back to the greater Charleston area.
And that’s why Christine is a Lowcountry Influential.
